WEATHER (Summer Season)
Far North (Barrow, Prudhoe Bay, Kotzebue, Nome, St. Lawrence
Island) - Highs in 40s, Lows in 30s. Lots of rain. Average daylight:
24 hours
Inside Passage (Ketchikan, Sitka, Wrangell, St. Petersberg, Prince
of Wales Island, Juneau, Haines, Skagway) - Highs in 60s, Lows in
upper 40s. Lots of rain. Average daylight: 16.5 hours
Interior: Denali - Highs in low 70s, Lows in upper 40s. More clouds
than sun, Average daylight: 19 hours; Fairbanks - Highs in upper 70s
and 80s, Lows in upper 50s and 60s. More sun than clouds. Average
daylight: 20 hours
Southcentral (Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula, Matanuska and Susitna River
Valleys, Prince William Sound, Wrangell-St Elias) - Highs in low 60s,
Lows in upper 40s. More rain than sun. Average daylight: 17.5 hours
Southwest (Kodiak, Aleutian Islands, Katmai, Pribilof Islands) -
Highs in low 60s, Lows in upper 40s. Lots of rain. Average daylight:

TIME ZONES
Most of Alaska is on Alaska Time, one hour earlier than Pacific
Time. The western Aleutian Islands and St Lawrence Island are on Hawaiian-Aleutian
Time, one hour earlier than Alaska Time. British Columbia and Yukon
Territory are on Pacific Time. The Alaska ferries are always on Alaska
time.
BORDER CROSSINGS
U.S.and Canadian residents should carry a driver's license
or voter registration as proof of residence. Minors are required to
provide some sort of identification. Passports and/or visas are required
for all other visitors. If you are driving through Canada, you may be
required to show proof of liability insurance and your vehicle's registration
papers.
TRANSPORTATION
Anchorage, Fairbanks, Ketchikan and Juneau operate public
transportation systems. Most cities provide shuttles from the ferry
dock to the city center at a cost of $2-5 each way.
